The National Trust has appointed Guerilla to design literature to guide visitors around the recently acquired Seaton Delaval Hall. The National Trust, following a two year money raising campaign involving 100,000 individuals, charities and companies, has saved this splendid hall. Sir John Vanbrugh, who also designed Blenheim Palace, designed Seaton Delaval Hall for Admiral George Delaval nearly 300 years ago.
The Hall was a colourful place in its day and was known for wild parties that took place there, until a fire ripped through the main hall in 1822. Today, The National Trust have invited the public to play their part in how the Hall is now used and want it to become ‘a beacon of creativity’. To reflect the colourful past history of the Hall, Guerilla commissioned illustrations with a theatrical flair and combined this with highly saturated graphics.

The client commented: “It has been an excellent partnership working with Guerilla, who have designed the leaflet with the theatrical stage of the Hall in mind. The leaflet is very individual to the property and has been inspired by the creativity of its past history. It was a lovely surprise to be presented with framed pictures of some of the original artwork illustrated by Keith Armstrong for Guerilla. We are delighted to be able to display the painting in the staff area of the property.”
Visitors to the Hall will soon be able to find their way around and marvel at the Hall with its formal garden using the new literature as a guide. To mark the occasion, Guerilla also presented Property Manager Catherine Atkinson and Rebecca Stevenson (Property Operations Manager) with the original framed illustrations at Seaton Delaval Hall.
“We are delighted to be involved in a project of such prestige, we felt it appropriate to acknowledge this by giving something back to the Hall. The original illustrations capture the beauty of Seaton Delaval Hall as it stands.” Nicky Colley, Client Services Director, Guerilla
